Day 32 - Dampier Caravan Park (12.9.09)
Spent the day today at Dampier and plan on heading off tomorrow morning for Onslow. We went to a teleauction today hoping to pick up an evakool fridge. (no luck) Maree & I reckoned it was "rigged". There was one woman bidding for everything. She was either a collector or had an eBay account. My guess was an eBay account..........Then we had a swim and watched the tugs moor the ship that came into collect the iron ore. It is quite fascinating watching the way they manage to berth the huge ship. Apparently there are 5 ships that leave Dampier each day, 8 trains to fill one ship, 264 carriages to each train and each train is 3.1km long......Massive operation 24hrs a day every day.......Just a little "trivia" for everyone...Very windy today but quite warm. Just heard from Lyn & Kevin, they stayed at Old Onslow last night in a free camp but it was 19km along a corragated road so we wont be doing the same thing!!!!!
