Day 31 - Dampier Caravan Park (11.9.09)

Woke up bright and early to say our final farewells to Lyn & Group as they headed south. Took the vans into Dampier Caravan Park and after setting up went into Karratha for some "retail therapy". Maree & I got some real bargains - very happy........Paul & Maree managed to get in a swim at the Aquatic Centre and then after lunch went "exploring". Managed to find the TI (who was also the Dampier Seafarers Mission) and was very helpful with information and a map of the area. With Maree & Paul we went to Hearson's Cove and then to Deep Gorge Petroglyphs where there was Aboriginal Art on some of the rocks. First time I have seen this kind of Art in it's natural surrounds. We then went to the Woodside's Visitor Centre and watched a video of the North West Shelf - very interesting. Looking out across the bay where the Caravan Park is situated to the Ships being loaded with Iron Ore is very special especially at night, it looks like fairy lights and is quite pretty.
