Day 27 PARDOO to Whim Creek Cemetery (7.9.09)
Decided when we woke up and it was windy once again to leave Pardoo Station. The wind is really annoying and doesn't let up until "happy hour"!!!! thoroughly enjoyed Pardoo except for the wind. Heading into Port Hedland to do a shop and then down to Point Samson. Only managed to get as far as Whim Creek. What a disappointment. The Hotel is now geered for the miners and have no interest or availability for overnight "caravaners". They suggested we head across the highway to the Whim Creek Cemetery, which we did and found quite a nice spot for the night. 20 years ago Maree & Paul stayed in a camp ground at the back of the Hotel and said the spot was great (except for the "Bikers"!!!!!!!) What a beautiful evening....sat out and turned all the lights off so we could gaze at the stars - spectacular. We are so lucky to live in this huge, beautiful country.......In the morning we will head for Point Samson where we will meet up with Lyn and Group again, they all headed down to Marble Bar to sightsee and stay for the night.
