Day 28 Whim Creek to Point Samson (8.9.09)

ON THE ROAD FOR ONE MONTH TODAY................

Woke up early and headed for Point Samson for couple of nights. On the way called into Roebourne to have a quick look in the Museum and TI. Coming back tomorrow for a closer look and a walk around Cossack which looks to be a very interesting old Heritage Town. After settling into our camp spot (very expensive new caravan park!!!) we went for a walk around town....not very big but there is a fish & chip restaurant called Moby's which is renowned for the best fish & chips in WA. Going there tonight to check it out.....can confirm that dinner was fantastic. Seafood Basket for Barry and a Reef & Reef for me - delicious. Collected some shells as well as a couple of pieces of really interesting rock. (apparently it is frowned upon to collect these specimens if you are further South. Lucky for me we were North of the boundary as I didn't realise.) We all got ourselves a cheap haircut from a lady travelling in the van behind us. Avril, doing haircuts for $10 and not bad.
The top picture is in the main street of Port Hedland.....a metal sculpture with bougainvillia growing inside. Looked fantastic, there were actually 4 of them all in a row.
