Murray River 28th October Camp Site [1035]

What a wonderful way to finish off our holiday, 3 nights on the Murray River. It is HOT. We are swimming and watching the houseboats gently slide by. Tomorrow morning we all head in different directions. Lyn & Kevin are heading straight home as are Brian & Pam. We are going to Cohuna for 2 nights to clean the van and pack it up ready for the next trip, then going home on Saturday. It has been a wonderful experience, although I have missed Maree & Paul these last couple of weeks. We have been to lots of interesting places, met some great people, mastered the campoven and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. A big thank-you to everyone who travelled on the "Tryanny Tours" trip, you all made our trip that much better......Planning for the next one now as we travel home...............

Day 71 Darkes Memorial RA to Winnininnie RA[275] (21.10.09)

A bit overcast but not cold or windy. First stop today will be Kimba to take some photos, then onto Iron Knob for MT and Port Augusta to fill with fuel. Heading towards Peterborough for the night. Beautiful, Beautiful day. The weather appears to be better now than over on the West Coast, no wind and quite balmy.......Stopped at Ororoo to have a look at the Giant Gum tree. Much bigger day on the road than first planned. Had a stop at Peterborough then continued on towards Yunta to look for a camp. No roadside camps available, fence close to the road and no shade. Ended up at Winnininnie [275]. Close to the road and railway line but there isn't a choice. (Starting to get late) Fantastic sunset and lovely mild night to sit around the campfire. Brian has perfected the camp oven pizza now and very, very nice indeed. Walked over to the railway line to take photos of the sunset.

Day 70 Penong CP to Darkes Memorial Rest Area [629] (20.10.09)

Glorious day, off towards Ceduna before continuing onto a free camp somewhere tonight. Didn't make it to Kimba, everyone a little tired so we stopped at Darkes Memorial rest Area about 57kms W of Kimba. Not a bad spot. Brian converted a wire rack to fit into his camp oven and made pizzas, really good.

Day 69 81K Peg Rest Area to Penong Caravan Park (19.10.09)

23deg at 1/4 to 8 - A bit windy but lovely and warm. Heading for Nullabor Roadhouse so Brian can check it out. He read a book about the Homestead and wants to have a look around. Unfortunately it is now a private residence so no exploring......!!Decided to head for the Penong Caravan Park for a "catch-up" before making our way across to Broken Hill. After dropping the Vans we went for a drive 21k down a really good dirt road to Point Sinclair, rugged coastline and beautiful sand dunes. Who would has guessed there was such a lovely spot just off the beaten track near Penong. Had a snitzel at the roadhouse for dinner, first meal for the 6 of us all together, and back to the van for a drink.
